History

The Florida Gold Coast Chapter was originally part of the South Florida Chapter, which is based in Dade County and included many of the nearby counties. By 1976, the commuting time in an expanding growth area became increasingly problematic to attend meetings and events. With the support of the South Florida Chapter, our founders, Irene McKee, CPCU, Richard Davis, CPCU, and Peggy Lloyd, CPCU, worked together to form a new chapter that can better serve members located north of Dade County.

On October 15, 1977, the Florida Gold Coast Chapter, consisting of 13 members, was granted a charter by the National CPCU Society to cover Broward, Palm Beach, and Martin counties. Since its founding, our chapter has had two national CPCU Presidents, James Nau, CPCU and Michael Koscielny, CPCU, whom are both still very active members. There are several members who have each served 20 or more years on various National Society Committees. The Chapter has also produced several National Board of Directors, Regional Vice Presidents, and Regional Governors.

Today, our chapter has almost 100 active members and continues to grow. We thank our founders, leaders, members, and community for continuing to support this chapter and allowing us to connect professionally for the past 44 years.
